La Fortuna is located about midway between La Paz and Los Barriles on the Sea of Cortez in a region locally known as 'East Cape'.
Much of this beautiful area is 'off the grid'...meaning, of course, that local homes and businesses use solar power and pottable water, or have fresh water trucked in for cistern storage.
In General, the East Cape is windier than at the tip of Lands End. Cabo Pulmo, located nearby is known as the wind surfing capitol of the world. With those winds come cooler temps in the off season, and hotter temps during the summer season.
East Cape, in general, is seeing the development of numerous marina communities, bringing property values to an all time high, and with those developments, the infrastructure required to add all local communities to the power grid from San Jose Del Cabo.
What Makes La Fortuna Unique?
La Fortuna Bank/Destiladera Bank/San Luis Bank/Iman Bank: Three popular fishing banks north east of the Gordo Banks. You will catch plenty of Roosterfish, Pargo, Snapper, Wahoo, Marlin, and Tuna at these spots but they are a bit far from the Cabo San Lucas marina. Iman Bank is the furthest north about but is a very consistent fishing hole for Tuna, Amberjack, Wahoo, Dorado, and Bonito.
