What Makes Comondu/ConstitucionUnique?
- San Luis Gonzaga are located in this municipality. Rocas Alijos, a group of tiny rocks that are 300 km west off the coast, are part of the municipality. The Municipality of Comondú was one of the first three municipalities created in the then Federal South Territory of Baja California as part of a presidential decree of 1971.
- The main attractions are found in Puerto San Carlos and Puerto López Mateos, located in the Bay of Magdalena.
During the winter season these small communities are the best places for gray whale-watching. Throughout the year they provide the best conditions for sport fishing of species such as marlin, sailfish, dorado and tuna. Activities such as surfing, canoeing and snorkeling could not have a more private and beautiful setting, as well as camping practiced in any of the many natural locations of these two villages.
Puerto San Carlos is the host to a traditional and expected Whale Festival in February, when all the people congregate to celebrate the arrival of these incredible marine mammals, while having fun with sports and cultural activities.
