Los Cabos Golfing
Currently, there are numerous world-class golf courses along the coastline between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo, and in the next 2 years, there are 3 clubs expected to open for private membership only
Cabo del Sol, Palmilla, Cabo Real, and Eldorado are situated on the Tourist Corridor. The Cabo del Sol Resort features the famed Ocean Golf Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, as well as the Tom Weiskopf–designed Desert Course.
The Fiesta Americana Grand is located on-site, while the Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar features lush, Mediterranean-influenced condo suites and a three-level pool.
Palmilla Resort and Golf Course is possibly the finest championship golf available in Los Cabos. It has 27-holes of 3 9’s: the Ocean, the Arroyo, and the Mountain courses. The Palmilla Hotel is the Cape Region’s very first resort, built in 1956 by the son of the former Mexican President. This 114-room hotel has broad ocean views, swaying Coconut Palms and cherry red Hibiscus bushes covering the immaculate grounds.
Cabo Real Resort is a 3000-acre resort community featuring the Cabo Real Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., and Jack Nicklaus’ Eldorado. Of the 5 hotels to choose from, the Westin Regina stands out as the most expensive resort to have ever been built in Mexico. Completed in 1994, it is artistically designed both in its architectural lines and customized colors. There are 255-rooms and suites, all of which are blessed with dramatic ocean views. The crowning glory of this resort is the magnificent ocean-side pool and the Zen garden that overlooks it.
Cabo Country Club, located just outside Cabo offers stunning fairway views of Land’s End, San Lucas Bay and the Sea of Cortez. The challenging course flows gently through groves of magnificent Palo Blanco trees and stately Cardon cacti, accented by grand expanses of sprawling fairways and nine sparkling lakes. Playing areas are literally carved out of the mountain and desert terrain and fairways and green are surrounded by a lush desertscape. The seventh tee box is the longest golf hole in Mexico: 610 yards, par 5, double dog leg around a lake. This is an ideal course for all levels of players as well as a treat for the eyes.
The Tom Fazio-designed, 840-acre Querencia Golf Course is the only private club in Los Cabos. It maintains a secluded feel despite the 250 homes, condominiums, and villas located on the grounds. The 2600 sq. ft. Clubhouse and the 12-acre modern practice area are some of the The Querenica’s best features.
The Mayan Palace Golf Los Cabos Course offers players at all levels some of the most interesting golf in Los Cabos, though not of the world class caliber of the other courses, the course maintains competitive and affordable prices. Designed for intermediate and beginning golfers, this is a great course for the entire family to play in a pleasant atmosphere surrounded by well landscaped residential properties featuring an abundance of multi-hued bougainvilleas.
In addition new developments currently breaking ground and designed to challenge golf enthusiasts include Chileno Bay along the San Jose del Cabo Corridor, Puerto Los Cabos, just north of San Jose del Cabo, and Puerta Riviera in LaRibera on the Sea of Cortez.
